Location: Ennis Street Garden (Third Ward)
Date: February 2026 (Black History Month Garden Crawl)
Our Ennis Street Garden Crawl brought together volunteers, community members, and partners to activate one of the most historically rooted growing spaces in the Third Ward. This special Black History Month edition of the Crawl focused on reconnecting community, culture, and food through hands-on work in the garden.
What We Worked On:
- Clearing and preparing growing beds for spring planting
- Weeding and restoring underutilized areas
- Transplanting starter plants grown at local sites
- Organizing materials and improving overall garden layout
Impact:
- Strong volunteer turnout from across the community
- Multiple garden beds restored and prepared for production
- Increased visibility and engagement around the Ennis Street site
This Garden Crawl was more than just maintenance — it was about honoring the legacy of community-based growing in the Third Ward while preparing the space for future food production and education.
